6 FACTS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING A BRAZILIAN WAX FOR THE FIRST TIME

Getting a Brazilian Wax can be intimidating if it’s your first time. You’ve probably heard horror stories about how painful it was, so you’re not quite ready to commit yet.

At Serenity Waxing Studio, we pride ourselves on providing the best Brazilian Wax with as little as pain possible… It’s what we are known for! We also have a secret trick or two about how you can take steps to minimize the pain before coming in to your appointment.

Here is everything you need to know before getting a Brazilian Wax:

  1. You don’t have to go completely bare Yes a traditional Brazilian Wax removes all hair down there, but if your hesitant, we can take baby steps. You have the option to just clean up the sides–aka–a Bikini Wax. Or, we can leave a little strip of hair, called a “landing strip”. These options will get you acclimated to the feeling of having less hair, and you can slowly work your way to a full Brazilian Wax over time!

  2. Advil is your friend As much as we pride ourselves on our virtually painless waxing technique, there is no such thing as avoiding discomfort totally. Try taking a couple pain relievers and chug water about 30-45 before your appointment. The water will hydrate your skin, therefore making it easier for the hair to be removed. And you know what Advil does.

  3. Beware if you’re on certain medications Some medicines can alter your skin, making it extra sensitive. Avoid using products containing Accutane or anything with ingredients like retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, or chemical exfoliants at least a week before your wax.

  4. Plan around your cycle Avoid getting your wax the week before or the week after your period. The drastic change in hormones makes the skin extremely sensitive.

  5. No, your hair won’t grow back thicker Actually, it’s the opposite. The more you get a Brazilian Wax and make it a routine, your hair will grow back in one, even direction and much thinner and straighter. Just avoid shaving in between waxes because the razor can cause hair to break, uneven regrowth, and lead to ingrown hairs.

  6. Wait to go to the gym We’ve mentioned this before, but it never hurts to repeat valuable info! Wait at least 24-48 hours before you exercise after getting a Brazilian Wax. You can read more about this here.

It’s important to keep these tips in mind, but also make sure you get your Brazilian Wax at a salon with experienced, highly-trained, and sanitary waxing professionals.
